Module 1: Introduction to Privacy
This module introduces some fundamental concepts related to privacy, explains
why protecting personal information is important and introduces the legal and
policy framework for the protection of personal information.
Upon completion of this lesson, learners will be able to:
- Define the concepts of privacy, security, confidentiality, information
privacy and personal information protection as used in this course.
- Define what is personal information.
- Explain why protecting personal information is important to the public,
government organizations and employees.
- Describe the legal and policy framework for the protection of personal
information within the Newfoundland and Labrador government.
