Fish and Wildlife Enforcement

Protecting our Fish and Wildlife for Future Generations

In 2011, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador created the new Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division, which is now responsible for both inland fish and wildlife enforcement. Our new Division consists of a dedicated team of highly trained and skilled officers who have a strong enforcement background.

Our mandate is to apprehend those individuals having the most serious negative impact on our fish and wildlife through their illegal poaching and selling of these resources.  We focus our attention on the more serious types of offences such as the illegal netting and illegal commercialization of salmon, trout and Arctic char, and organized poaching activity of wildlife such as big game.   Fish and Wildlife Enforcement is committed to working with the general public to protect these resources.  With the ongoing support from the general public, hunters and fishers, as well as conservation groups, we will continue to protect our fish and wildlife for future generations.
